The DCNP National Exam Certification Review Course was held on April 25 and 26 during the 2024 National Conference. The course is being redesigned for the Live Course scheduled for April 30 and May 1, 2025. Following the live event, the updated Review Course will be made available online, offering a comprehensive overview of the examination focus areas identified by the DCNPB. Continuing education (CE) credits will be available for participants in both the live and online DCNP National Exam Certification Review Course.

Flashcard Technology

We offer over 250 virtual flashcard via Brainscape.  Brainscape is a web and mobile app study platform that uses a “smart flashcards” algorithm rooted in cognitive science. SDNP is thrilled to offer our flashcards on this platform, so you can optimize smart technology to study the Certification Review Course, as well as create your own flashcards.

What is the Dermatology Certification Exam?
The Dermatology Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination nationally accredited examination administered by the Dermatology Nurse Practitioner Certification Board (DNPCB). The exam is designed to measure the nurse practitioner’s ability to assess and diagnose acute and chronic dermatological conditions that occur across the life span. National certification is a recognized measure of competence in one’s specialty area and serves as recognition of expertise in the specialty practice of dermatology.

Who is Eligible for the Dermatology Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam?
To be eligible to sit for the Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner (DCNP) exam, candidates must meet the following requirements, as delineated by the DCNPB:

• Masters or Doctoral degree in nursing
• Current NP state licensure
• National certification as a NP
• Minimum of 3,000 hours of recent dermatology NP practice (within the last 3 years) with current practice in dermatology (hours obtained from a formal dermatology NP academic program count towards the 3,000 hours).

Will the Review Course be offered In Person?
The DCNP National Exam Certification Review Course will be offered in-person at the 2025 National Conference taking place April 30 - May 3 in Indian Wells, CA.

Will CEU or Contact Hours be Offered?
