The Society of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners is always interested in new leaders to support the organization. These volunteers provide leadership to the Board and members of SDNP.
Committees:
Certification: The Certification Committee is established to oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the SDNP’s DCNP certification review program. The Committee ensures that the educational content reflects current best practices, maintains credibility and integrity, and supports professional development within the field.
- Defining and updating course criteria, standards, and eligibility requirements.
- Overseeing the development and evaluation of certification exams or assessments.
- Recommending improvements to certification policies, procedures, and communications to the DCNP Certification Board.

Program: The Program Committee is established to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of SDNP’s national conference. The committee is responsible for ensuring that the event aligns with the organization’s mission, serves the needs of attendees, and achieves programmatic and strategic objectives.
- Align activities with the comprehensive project plan and timeline for the conference as provided by staff.
- Recommend and help secure keynote speakers, session presenters, and panelists.
- Collaborate with relevant subcommittees (e.g., sponsorship, program, logistics, marketing) as needed.
- Ensure that the conference promotes inclusivity, engagement, and professional development.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the event and provide recommendations for future improvement.
- Staff liaisons may support the Committee administratively and logistically.

Education: The Education Committee is established to support SDNP's mission by providing strategic oversight and guidance for educational programming and initiatives. The Committee is responsible for identifying learning needs, ensuring high-quality educational offerings, and promoting professional development for members and stakeholders.
- Developing and overseeing educational strategies, curricula, and learning objectives aligned with organizational goals.
- Planning, reviewing, and evaluating educational programs, including workshops, webinars, online courses, and continuing education (CE/CME) activities.
- Identify emerging trends, topics, and speakers relevant to the organization’s audience.
- Ensure educational content is inclusive, evidence-based, and meets applicable accreditation or licensing requirements.
- Collaborate with other committees or partners to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

Marketing: The Marketing Committee is established to support SDNP’s mission by providing strategic guidance, oversight, and support for all marketing, branding, and communications initiatives. The Committee is responsible for ensuring the organization’s image, messaging, and outreach efforts are consistent, effective, and aligned with the strategic goals.
- Assist in developing and reviewing SDNP’s marketing plan and strategy.
- Provide input on branding, messaging, and visual identity.
- Support the creation and dissemination of promotional content, including website updates, social media campaigns, print materials, and event collateral.
- Assist in identifying new marketing opportunities, partnerships, and tools.

Emerging Scholars Program
Emerging Scholars is an innovative initiative designed to support and empower early-career dermatology nurse practitioners (DermNPs).
Made possible through the generous sponsorship of Johnson & Johnson, this program is a transformative opportunity for DermNPs with 0–5 years of experience to elevate their careers and shape the future of dermatology nursing.
As an SDNP Emerging Scholar, you will gain access to:

Eligibility Requirements To qualify, applicants must:
- Be within their first five years of practice as a DermNP.
- Be able to attend the SDNP National Conference in Scottsdale, AZ, from May 6-9, 2026, including the preconference workshop on May 1.
- Membership in SDNP is not required to apply.
Program Duration This year-long program runs from May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026, providing continuous opportunities for mentorship and professional growth.
